Why Qualtrics

Why Qualtrics – Amy Hendricks – Program Success Principal – Seattle, WA

I've focused my career on improving people's lives - whether through direct service by improving operations, processes, and procedures; or through clarifying roles by coaching leaders and strategically modeling organizations to best serve business, customer, and employee needs. I specialize in leveraging data to make informed intelligent decisions. I thrive in fast-paced environments supported by incredibly smart and motivated individuals and teams. Qualtrics provided such a natural place for me to blend my interests and skills - a place where I could leverage prior experience to springboard into a rapidly emerging sector.

What attracted you to Qualtrics in the first place?

I was familiar with Qualtrics from completing surveys in business school and I specialize in data analytics and visualization, so the opportunity to work with customers to apply technology to collect, analyze, and act on data was very intriguing! What kept me interested was feeling such a natural fit as I learned more about the organization and met future colleagues during the recruiting process.

What does your day look like?

Every day is different which keeps things interesting! My account team is scattered across the country, so I have a lot of phone or video conference internal planning sessions and client meetings. I spend a lot of time coordinating across different departments and ensuring the customer has everything they need. I also lead several internal initiatives and regularly carve out time to keep up with training and deepen my XM knowledge.

Any tips for someone who is considering a role at Qualtrics?

Qualtrics requires people who are flexible, adapt, and appropriately challenge what's possible. You'll thrive if you're a self-starter who excels at communicating across organizational levels and are adept at navigating ambiguity. We work hard but also have a lot of fun together, and this is a safe place to bring your whole self to work.

What surprised you most about working at Qualtrics?

Moving from management consulting, I was concerned about the pace and caliber of talent I'd find shifting into industry. I'm thrilled to find a similar intellectual diversity and intensity at Qualtrics and to be surrounded by incredibly smart and motivated individuals. They genuinely care about delivering the best product and service to the customer but then go home to dinner with their families.

What's the name of the school you earned your MBA at?

University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business

What was it about Qualtrics that made you want to join the team after you completed your MBA?

Qualtrics is my second post-MBA employer. I spent the first 4.5 years post-MBA in management consulting which truly accelerated my learning and skill development; however, I eventually sought a different work-life balance and deeper ownership of longer-term programs. Qualtrics provided the opportunity to continue working on robust problems while also having more autonomy over my schedule so I can invest more deeply in building solutions and tracking progress over time.

How did your time there prepare you to be successful in your career?

Business school forced me to improve my networking skills and better rely on others in team settings. I learned how to ask better questions and where to find solutions. Possibly the most valuable skill I acquired during my MBA was refining my story and learning how to communicate my experience and value add in an impactful and relatable way.
