Uplight Recognized as a Fast Company Best Workplace for Innovators a Second Year

By Kate Devitt on

Fast Company, a prominent American business publication in technology and innovation, published its annual 100 Best Workplaces for Innovators list to recognize companies across the globe that foster a culture of innovation. They also highlight “Other Standouts by Category” to acknowledge companies that excel in specific areas related to innovation.

This year, Uplight was recognized as a top six best workplace for innovators in sustainability and top five in midsized companies (100-1,000 employees) for its internal culture of innovation. Uplight was one of only three U.S. based companies recognized in sustainability, and one of four U.S. based recognized in the mid-sized company category.

Michael Sobota, VP of Software Engineering, says it’s “no surprise” that we’ve earned a spot on the Fast Company list for sustainability: “There’s an effect of being where we are as a company. With our solutions, we’re shifting how people think about and interact with energy, and from a software perspective, we are in uncharted territory. So, there’s innovation in everything that we do. It’s in our projects and products, but also part of our scale, our culture, and our mission.”

Michael adds that Uplight’s success is “not just a win for our mission and utility’s missions: it’s a win for humanity, too.”  A certified B-corp, Uplight continues to innovate and grow— leveraging creativity, collaboration, and a strong sense of purpose—  to enable the clean energy transformation.
