It’s one of the most popular and used websites on the internet and has propelled people from their bedrooms to international stardom (or infamy). YouTube has changed the world of entertainment and celebrity forever.
Being the most-liked video on YouTube really means something and it’s an incredibly hard thing to achieve. We’ve listed the most-liked YouTube videos below so you can see what it takes.
You’ll quickly see a common theme: being a famous pop star.
We start our list with K--Pop. “How You Like That” is a song from BLACKPINK, a popular all-female Korean pop band. They also appear in our most-subscribed YouTube channels list.
Next, we have BLACKPINK again with their 2019 video for “Kill This Love.”
In 18th place comes famous music producer and DJ Marshmello with his video for “Alone.” Dating back to July 2016, the video has had a spot on this list for quite a while.
Popstar Billie Eilish performed a duet with singer and songwriter Khalid back in 2018 and the music video is still in the top 20 of the most-liked YouTube videos.
Here comes a YouTube video by MrBeast with one of his signature giveaways. He has one of the most followed channels on YouTube, so it’s not surprising that he’s making this list, too.
And again MrBeast. This time with a video that takes inspiration from an Instagram post that was the most-liked Instagram post for a long time, which is just a picture of an egg. In this video, MrBeast asks people to make the video the most-liked video on YouTube. So far, it hasn’t worked, although making the top 20 is pretty impressive.
Here comes Norway. 🇳🇴
This EDM track from Alan Walker reached the top ten in countries all over the world in 2015. This commercial success translated into a lot of YouTube likes, and helped make Walker’s career.
It feels like ancient history now, but this viral juggernaut came out just 11 years ago. Spawning a mass of dance recreations and endless radio plays, it was the first YouTube video to hit 1bn views. It was also the most-liked YouTube video for over 1,400 days.
We are back to K-Pop. This time with the influential boys from BTS and a duet with American pop star Halsey.
DanielLabelle is popular for his short physical comedy videos. In this video, he performs the movie “Home Alone” as fast as possible.
American illusionist Zach King has magicked himself into the top 20 most-liked videos on Youtube by sharing sleight-of-hand tricks.
This fun video showing the novel way that he doesn't get caught spray painting has propelled him into YouTube superstardom – but will he remain in the top 20?
How Ridiculous is run by three Australians who have a lot of fun (or so they claim in their channel description). In this video, two guys compete to pop balloons and try to win the race.
Sheeran has got a spot in the top ten. The video for his 2017 megahit was one of the fastest to hit 1bn views on YouTube.
Next, we have Speedy Gonzales DanielLabelle again and you might guess it: He’s in a hurry. This time he treats cleaning as a timed sports activity.
Dednahype is a YouTuber from Latvia creating comedy videos. In this sketch, he promotes some headphones, and it’s the only product placement making the top 20 list.
Another K-pop entry, it’s pop giants BTS with their 2020 video for “Dynamite.”
In fourth place, we have MrBeast again. This time, he challenges strangers to go to Paris for him to buy a baguette in exchange for a few dollars.
Who knew a kid’s song would become one of the biggest viral hits of its day, leading to a dance craze and it being used by Lebanese protestors to soothe a 15-month-old boy?
One of the more bizarre entries on the list, but it’s definitely one of the best.
Previously the most-liked video on YouTube, this Wiz Khalifa video now sits in 2nd place. I’m sure he won’t mind too much as the song hit number one in the US, UK, New Zealand, and Australia.
Leaving the competition far behind, the video for “Despacito” has been the most-liked video on YouTube for over 2,100 days. Beyond that, it’s also the second most-watched video in YouTube history, with 8.2bn views and counting.
