19 Social Media Holidays to Celebrate This April

Step into spring with a fresh twist to your social media content, inspired by April's unofficial holidays.

April 1. April Fools’ Day #AprilFools

Kick the month off with a playful twist. April Fools’ Day has encouraged light-hearted pranks and laughter for centuries. There’s no better way to get creative and spark engagement on social. The formula for success is fun, cleverness, and wit.

@mtvuk I’m celebrating #AprilFoolsDay by remembering #Rihanna getting Punk’d in 2006 🙈💵 #Punkd #MTVCeleb ♬ original sound - mtvuk

April 2. World Autism Awareness Day #WAAD

Established in 2008, this internationally recognized day is dedicated to raising awareness and understanding about autism spectrum disorder, advocating for the rights of people, especially children, with autism.

April 3. Find a Rainbow Day #FindARainbowDay

Whether it's the vibrant arc in the sky or metaphorical rays of hope, ‘Find a Rainbow Day’ encourages everyone to seek beauty in unexpected places, and find joy in the journey.

April 3. World Party Day #WorldPartyDay

Parties have different meanings for different people, but as long as you're enjoying yourself on your terms, you’re celebrating ‘World Party Day’ the right way. We suggest putting on some music, hanging up light decorations, not holding back on the refreshments, and inviting your favorite people over.

April 4. Hug a Newsperson Day #HugANewsperson

To express true appreciation for journalists who work tirelessly to keep us informed about current events across the globe, we're embracing the power of hugs. I think the best course of action is to camp outside your local news station and be ready to offer a warm hug to the first news reporter you encounter.

@cbc Today is #NationalHugaNewspersonDay and Gary, from Studio K, has a lot of hugs for a lot of newspeople at CBC! #CBCKids #StudioK ♬ original sound - CBC

April 5. Walk to Work Day #WalktoWorkDay

Embracing the idea of walking to work not only boosts your health but also benefits the environment. Take advantage of the opportunity to get some fresh air, stretch your muscles, and perhaps explore the scenic route, giving the ozone layer a well-deserved break. Even if your workplace is a bit far, walking part of the distance still makes a positive impact.

April 6. National Carbonara Day #NationalCarbonaraDay

Carbonara isn't just a sauce—it's a culinary experience. I recently stumbled on a surprising twist: carbonara pizza. It’s easy. Just put the sauce on the pizza dough. Here’s the recipe for traditional carbonara: pancetta or bacon, eggs, parmesan, a dash of olive oil, salt, and pepper. This begs the question: what else can we ‘carbonarize?’

April 7. World Health Day #WorldHealthDay

We've all heard the saying 'health is wealth'—and spoiler alert: it's true. But true health goes beyond just physical fitness; it encompasses mental and emotional well-being too. That means finding ways to move your body, whether it's hitting the gym or playing your favorite sport, taking time for mindfulness practices like journaling or meditation, and leaning on your support network when needed.

April 10. Siblings’ Day #NationalSiblingsDay

Having a sibling is truly special. Whether you're reminiscing about childhood memories, competing in a not-so-friendly game of Uno, or having a cook-off, Siblings’ Day is the perfect time to celebrate the unique bond you share. All that matters is that you make the most of this day with your siblings.

April 11. National Pet Day #NationalPetDay

Pets make the world go round. At least for pet owners. While dogs, cats, hamsters, and goldfish are among some of the most popular pets, there are also unique contenders like hedgehogs, frogs, and pigs.

April 20. National Look-Alike Day #NationalLookAlikeDay

It’s a widely held belief that everyone has a look-alike somewhere in the world, perhaps even in a different time period, whom they may never meet. While for some, their doppelgängers remain elusive, for others, they're surprisingly close to home. Here are some uncanny celebrity resemblances: Zooey Deschanel and Katy Perry, Coco Jones and Jennifer Hudson, Zoe Saldana and Thandie Newton, and Heath Ledger and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

April 21. World Creativity and Innovation Day #WCIW #WCID #IAmCreative

There’s much to appreciate about global creativity and innovation. Every April 21 provides us with a prime opportunity to celebrate these practices, which seamlessly merge the arts with STEM fields. From historical figures like Leonardo DaVinci to contemporary icons like Bridgit Mendler (we’ve seen the TikToks), they remind us to view life through the lens of creativity, imagination, and innovation.

April 22. Earth Day #EarthDay

As the global movement to protect our planet gains momentum, Earth Day takes center stage. With pressing issues like pollution, deforestation, and climate change to address, this unofficial holiday unites people worldwide in a coordinated effort to tackle environmental challenges.

April 23. World Book Day #WorldBookDay

Officially known as ‘World Book and Copyright Day,’ this occasion is dedicated to promoting all things book-related. Whether you indulge in some solo reading or participate in a lively book club discussion, the day celebrates the joy of literature. Interesting fact: William Shakespeare passed away on April 23–in 1616, in his hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon at the age of 52 years old.

April 28. National Superhero Day #SuperheroDay #NationalSuperheroDay

There’s so much to love about superheroes, from their captivating personalities and iconic costumes to the noble principles they uphold and the loyal teams that support their every move. While we adore the worlds and franchises that bring us dynamic superheroes, let's not forget that our reality is filled with real-life superheroes in various forms. Whether it’s healthcare workers, firefighters, or soup kitchen volunteers, everyday heroes inspire us with their selflessness and courage.

April 29. International Dance Day #InternationalDanceDay

Beyond being a form of expression, dancing embodies happiness and freedom. While historically, some communities have held varying views on dancing, today, many people embrace it as a way to express joy and connect with others. Move if you can and celebrate the art of dance. And if you're up for it, earn some bonus points by playing a dancing game like Just Dance or Dance Dance Revolution.

April 29. World Wish Day #WishDay #WorldWishDay

I recently rewatched ‘13 Going on 30’ (2004), and it quite aptly underscored the significance of wishing and maintaining hope. These desires resonate deeply within us, whether they are rooted in our ambition, insecurities, or our regrets.

@makeawishamerica Follow along as 27 wish kids experienced their #WishesInFlight from JFK -> MCO on their way to The Most Magical Place on Earth for their wishes. 💯🛩🙌 Thank you to @americanair @thepointsguy and @disney for making this experience possible! #WishesInFlight #BestFlightEver #WorldWishDay #MakeAWish ♬ Happy & Pop songs - PeriTune

April 30. National Honesty Day #NationalHonestyDay

To add another film to the mix, ‘The Invention of Lying’ (2009) is a fitting choice for a day dedicated to honesty. National Honesty Day falls on the last day of April, serving as a perfect counterbalance to the playful pretenses and falsehoods of April Fool’s Day at the start of the month.

April 30. International Jazz Day #JazzDay

With participation from nearly 200 countries each year, International Jazz Day transcends mere concerts and passive listening, delving into the profound appreciation of cultural expression throughout history. Fun fact: In 2020, Cape Town in South Africa, had the honor of being the Global Host City for the celebration, marking the first time International Jazz Day was hosted by an African city.
