In November 2022, with Commerce Cloud 2211 release, we at SAP made a significant announcement regarding our commitment towards the accelerated innovation and modernization of SAP Commerce Cloud. As we approach the one-year anniversary since this announcement and release, I feel it is a fitting moment to share the results and progress achieved over the past 11 months with our customers and partners.

First off, the adoption and feedback from customers and partners of the release and our continuous innovation model has been nothing short of impressive. Customers have told us that they found the pace of innovation to be dramatically higher while adoption of these innovations to be overwhelmingly effortless, requiring little additional incremental effort or investment.  Additionally, an impressive 80% of SAP Commerce Cloud Early Adopter Care (EAC) program particpants have shown interest in evaluating previews of new capabilities in their staging environments for upfront understanding and preparation upon release, helping them to gain a competitive advantage in their respective markets and industries.

In 2023, we reached notable milestones in terms of update delivery cycles and feature enhancements.  Our commitment to innovation has been evident through the constant delivery of easy to consume innovations. To date, we have already shipped 25+ updates of the product which includes 135+ capabilities across several product areas including core commerce platform, composable storefront, integrations, AI powered intelligent selling services, and many more.   Some of the capability highlights include blue green deployments, assisted service module improvements for better customer service, out of the box capabilities in composable storefront to reduce implementation efforts, real time integration with S/4 HANA, SAP Recommerce, SAP Emarsys integration for targeted marketing campaigns, replenishment product recommendations in intelligent selling services, SSO across all backoffice applications, central identity provisioning, and much more.

The business benefits associated with these numbers are substantiated by real customer experiences. Two of the numerous customer examples that underscore the advantages of SAP’s continuous innovation approach are Carhartt, who reduced inter-page loading by 90% and Aryzta, who saw a 90% faster deployment of new online store features.

In addition, we have an exciting roadmap with a number of incredible additional capabilities lined up for the updates scheduled to ship in the remainder of this year and 2024 such as infusing more meaningful AI capabilities, enhancements to modern cloud-native microservices-based capabilities like intelligent selling services, pricing, order management, sourcing and availability, search, and others.  These demonstrate SAP's commitment to disrupt ourselves and remain relevant in this constantly evolving market, but more importantly, enable our customers to out-innovate their competition.

In addition, we have expanded our delivery of cutting-edge, headless and composable commerce capabilities.  SAP’s unique and differentiated approach to composability has clearly resonated within the market.  This allows enterprises across industries to compose digital commerce experiences at their own pace, relying on both a feature-rich foundation as well as a selectively curated and deeply integrated partner ecosystem, no matter where they sit on the digital maturity spectrum.  It enables businesses to remain relevant in the current fast-changing environment by providing the necessary agility and flexibility that only a unique mix of best of breed and best of suite can provide.  With SAP Commerce Cloud, organizations can ultimately enhance customer engagement and consistently boost both top and bottom-line, from discovery to delivery and beyond, without having to rely on an army of developers and ultimately play software vendor.

The digital commerce analyst community is also paying notice and further validating SAP’s strategy:

SAP has been named a leader in the 2023 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Digital Commerce for the ninth consecutive time. Furthermore, the Gartner Critical Capabilities for Digital Commerce report, which assessed 19 vendors, ranked SAP first in three out of five use cases – B2B Digital Commerce, B2B and B2C on the Same Platform and Complex Business Models – as well as third in B2C Digital Commerce.

The IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Retail Commerce Platform Software Providers 2023 Vendor Assessment also names SAP a Leader for innovative models to support sustainability goals, the ability to detect and scale for demand, and seamless data integration across the organization for dynamic commerce strategies.

SAP Commerce Cloud is an integral part of our business strategy, and we are fully committed to its continued growth and support.  Our steady stream of planned innovations will consistently deliver new capabilities that create value for your business, ensure seamless integration with your operations and provide ongoing assistance to meet your specific business requirements. Regardless of where you are in your digital commerce journey, SAP strongly recommends that you explore how SAP Commerce Cloud enables your digital transformation to drive profitable growth.

I encourage you to seize the opportunity to unlock the future of commerce with SAP Commerce Cloud!
