We recently published “The Forrester Wave™: Graph Data Platforms, Q4 2020” evaluation to help organizations make the appropriate decision when choosing a vendor. Although Forrester has been covering graph databases for more than a decade, this is the first vendor comparison report. While we have long contemplated doing a Wave in this space, it was only in the last year that we saw a significant increase in inquiry volume and market demand related to graph, and that warranted our doing this Wave. In this report, you will find the 12 most relevant vendors in this space and can compare the current offering, vendor strategy, vision, and client experiences of each.

What stood out in this graph data platform Wave? We found that:

  • Graph data platforms are being widely adopted. While graph data platforms don’t often make headlines, enterprises are implementing quite a few mission-critical deployments to support customer 360, knowledge graphs, master data management, and social networks.
  • Most vendors have a lot of advanced capabilities. Vendors are providing more automation features to increase developer productivity, improve performance and scale to support larger deployments, and enhance query and search capabilities to simplify access for applications and insights.
  • Multiple workloads can be deployed with graph. There is perception that graph is mostly good for operational use cases. Interestingly, we found that organizations are deploying graph for all kinds of use cases, including transactional, analytics, operational, search, and translytical.

Please take a look at the Wave evaluation, and schedule an inquiry for more details on how you can leverage graph data platforms in your organization.
