Why Qualtrics

Why Qualtrics – Niamh Coppinger – Senior Technology Consultant – Dublin, Ireland

Tell us, Why Qualtrics?

Honestly, I found Qualtrics by pure chance, and I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into when I joined. I was a science graduate straight out of college and knew that I didn’t want to sit in a lab for the rest of my life. I started my Q journey on the customer support team (Quni) as a graduate straight out of university and it’s the best opportunity I’ve ever fallen into.

Why did you decide to join the Employee Experience (EX) team?

There were a lot of doors open to me when I decided to move from Quni into something else. This role stood out to me because it was a perfect blend of building customer relationships and making a big impact on the business while still being able to dig into the technology. I love problem-solving and I love getting to know our customers and making them successful, so this was a perfect fit.

What is the "day to day of your role”?

Each day brings something new. Generally, I can group things into customer project activities, partner enablement activities and internal initiatives.

I’m usually working on multiple customer projects at any one time, depending on how large/complex those projects are. For example, right now I’m working with three of our largest customers in Europe on their programs. But in the past, I’ve worked with more at once where those projects were lighter-touch. Day to day I’m generally leading project calls with customers, collaborating with internal teams, delivering informal/formal product training sessions with the customer, and reviewing and implementing changes in the Qualtrics technology.

I also spend a lot of time enabling our delivery partners. I work with them on their first Qualtrics projects as a specialist resource both in terms of how best to implement the technology and our ways of working. I’ve also had the opportunity to lead some of our EX Delivery Partner Bootcamps here in Dublin, London, and Singapore.

And then there’s everything else! One of my favourite things about Qualtrics is the opportunity to innovate and make a real, significant business impact. Part of this is through our work with customers, but there is so much room to get involved with other initiatives. If you see something that is not working or that you think could be done better, then there is nothing to stop you diving in to develop a solution. I’ve worked on a lot of internal projects cross-functionally and cross-regionally to improve tools and processes. We also collaborate with our Engineering Team on new product developments and feed valuable insights back to them from our customers to shape future developments. It’s very rewarding to see our ideas reflected in the product!

What does Employee Experience mean to you?

Our jobs are such a big part of our lives. We spend so much time at work, and even when we’re not in the office our experience at work has a knock-on effect on our lives. I decided to work in EX because I feel that if my role can help people enjoy what they do and where they work, then that makes the world a better place.

In terms of working at Qualtrics, we genuinely practice what we preach. At no point in my four years here have I ever felt like my voice does not matter or that I need to be anything other than myself to succeed here. It may not be apparent from an outside perspective, but our TACOS (our values) are embedded in everything we do and are a big part of how we have come so far as a business.

What do you like most about your job?

The people. When I say we’re the “Dream Team,” I really mean it. Every person I work with is smart, capable and kind, and it’s a wonderful feeling knowing that someone will always have your back. Things get busy. We all have those moments where the challenges we’re facing seem insurmountable, but it’s never a problem here to put up your hand to ask for help.

What is your top #LifeHack?

Gratitude. Taking the time to reflect on the things you are grateful for changes your perspective.

Also, keyboard shortcuts are your best friend.
